Description
Support your weight loss with a plan built around you.
Compounded semaglutide is a once-weekly injection that may be prescribed by a licensed provider as part of a medical weight management plan for adults who are living with obesity, or who are overweight and have a weight-related health condition. It is used together with a reduced-calorie eating plan and more physical activity. Your provider will choose the dose that fits you and adjust it over time.
What’s included. This 3-month supply is prepared with vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) and ondansetron (Zofran), a medicine commonly used to help with nausea, as an add-on. Ondansetron is a separate medication, and compounded versions are not FDA approved.
Important: compounded, not FDA approved. This product is prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy. Compounded drugs are not FDA approved. FDA has not reviewed them for safety, effectiveness, or quality. They are prescribed only when a provider decides it is appropriate for you. This product is not Wegovy or Ozempic.
How it works. Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It acts on appetite and digestion to help you feel full sooner and eat less.
Common side effects. Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, indigestion or reflux, headache, tiredness, dizziness, and injection site reactions. These are most common when starting or increasing a dose.
Important safety information.
- Boxed warning: semaglutide caused thyroid C-cell tumors in rodents. It is not known whether it causes thyroid tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma, in people. Do not use it if you or a family member have had medullary thyroid carcinoma, or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
- Tell your provider about pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, kidney disease, diabetes or diabetic eye disease, depression or suicidal thoughts, and all medicines you take. Contact your provider about dosing questions; FDA has reported dosing errors with compounded injectable semaglutide.
- Ondansetron: tell your provider if you have heart rhythm problems (QT prolongation), low potassium or magnesium, or take medicines that affect heart rhythm or serotonin, because ondansetron can cause serious heart rhythm changes and serotonin syndrome. Common effects include headache, constipation, diarrhea, tiredness, and dizziness. Do not use if you have had an allergic reaction to ondansetron. Vitamin B12 can rarely cause allergic reactions.
- Not for use during pregnancy or when planning pregnancy.
- Call your provider right away for severe stomach pain, persistent vomiting, a lump or swelling in the neck, trouble swallowing, or signs of an allergic reaction.
- Use exactly as your provider directs.
Your 3-month supply is dispensed per your provider’s plan. Dose changes happen only with provider approval.
Eligibility is determined by a provider evaluation and lab review as needed. Results vary. This listing is not medical advice. You can report side effects to FDA MedWatch at 1-800-FDA-1088 or fda.gov/medwatch.
